OBJECTIVE

This class is a valuable and beneficial resource for beginning and established actors, with vital and practical information every actor needs to know from the perspective of a Casting Director.

This class will begin with a brief synopsis of Wendy McKenzie’s resume and practice as a Casting Director based in New York City.

Actors will participate in practical exercises and a Q&A session directed by Ms. McKenzie to begin to evaluate each actor’s skill level.

A critique followed by constructive direction will be provided to enhance each actor’s individual skill set. Focus will be based upon each actor’s individual needs to be able to showcase their best work during the audition evaluation portion of the Workshop.

Each student will be provided specific sides to perform on-camera. The on-camera exercise will teach the actor how to appear more convincingly on-screen.

LIGHT; CAMERA; ACTION!!!

_________________________________________________________________________

HEY... I JUST WANT TO SAY
THANK YOU TO OUR GUEST SPEAKERS...
from our November 2009
"Lights Camera Action" Workshop.

Actor - TOBIAS TRUVILLION
( One Life To Live)

Actor - TYRONE BROWN
(Beat The World)

Actress - SHAMIKA COTTON
(The Wire)

and a Special "Thank You"
goes out to my ...
LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!!!!!
(11/09) students.

THE WEEKEND WAS BITTERSWEET FOR ME... THIS IS MY LAST ACTING WORKSHOP FOR THE YEAR 2009. AFTER MY WORKSHOP I HEADED OVER TO BROOKLYN TO ATTEND THE IFNY MONOLOGUE SLAM HOSTED BY MALIK YOBA AND GIVEN BY ATTIKA J. TORRENCE founder of The Independent Film New York (www.IFILMNET.tv)
SPECIAL GUEST JUDGES INCLUDES...
Actor: Micheal K. Williams ( The Wire)
Manager: Ally Roberson ( Roberson Artist Management)
Casting Director: Winsome Sinclair (Precious)
Director; Author & Acting Coach: Tracey Moore (Tracey's Clients includes Eve & Busta Rhymes)
THIS IS WHERE THE SWEET PART COMES IN... Malik Yoba said... do we have any actors in the house?... and out of no where Donald Calliste; Nafessa Williams & Shana Solomon jumps up to the front of the stage. Malik then asks them to do an improv... out of no where, they came up the best story line ever. When I tell you they did such a great job with acting it out, they left a great lasting impressing on everyone in the house... After the event all the Judges and people in attendance knew their names... and wanted to meet them, I was a proud Mama.
Lesson #1
Be Memorable

SUNDAY NOV. 22, 2009
ALTHOUGH I WAS TIRED FROM LAST NIGHTS EVENT, I GOT UP BRIGHT AND EARLY TO ATTEND Miles Maker's (google him) DIRECTING ACTORS GYM WITH SPECIAL GUESS DIRECTOR PETE CHATMON (google him too)

ITS SO IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHAT GOES THROUGH A DIRECTORS MIND WHEN GIVING DIRECTION. HE HAD THE ACTORS ACT OUT EACH SCENE, PETE GAVE ADJUSTMENTS AND COMMENTS, THEN ADDED IMPROV TO EACH SCENE.
NOTE TO ALL ACTING STUDENTS... PLEASE FIND YOUR WAY INTO MILES MAKER'S NEXT EVENT...
Lesson #2
Never Stop Learning !

WITH THANKSGIVING COMING SOON... I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU, TO YOU... MY STUDENTS. THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR JOURNEY WITH ME. I WISH YOU THE BEST OF LUCK AND HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON DURING ONE OF MY CASTING CALLS... WHAT EVER YOU DO FROM THIS MOMENT ON, PROMISE ME ONE THING... YOU'LL NEVER STOP LEARNING.

GETTING STARTED ACTING WORKSHOPS!

Xpozure Modeling/ Acting

Good day, Wendy.

I wish to say that it was indeed a privilege to work with you during this past weekend's "Acting Workshops" Seminar ("Getting Started" -- March 28th & 29th).

I was very impressed with your professionalism, class structure, very close attention to detail, thought-provoking Q&A sessions, and forthright personality and discretion towards the realities of the entertainment business. To me, these are qualities which displayed the many truths of what casting directors and agents really look for during the audition process. It really made for an exciting two days of witnessing just how thorough you truly are, having been a part of the business yourself for 20-plus years.

All of these attributes, and more, were presented to our students in such an exemplary fashion, I'm quite certain that they're just as appreciative as I am. Furthermore, this type of actor's training should allow for each student to take with them many positive teachings and critiques that will surely enhance their professional growth both as an actor, and their own daily life experiences.

Meanwhile, I look forward to a continuous working relationship with "In the Wink of An Eye" Casting for many years to come. It is definitely a platform worthy of providing future aspiring actors, models, and dancers with the type of quality training necessary for their own career success.

To all of the students who participated -- Amanda DeBraux, Monica Verner, Daryl Denner, Dre Davis, Angelique Chapman, Mo Brown, Joanne Tate, Kemylee Brisport, and Shae Anthony ... I wish all of you the very best of success in your future endeavors.

As always, take care & enjoy!
