GETTING STARTED ACTING WORKSHOPS!

Xpozure Modeling/ Acting

Good day, Wendy.

I wish to say that it was indeed a privilege to work with you during this past weekend's "Acting Workshops" Seminar ("Getting Started" -- March 28th & 29th).

I was very impressed with your professionalism, class structure, very close attention to detail, thought-provoking Q&A sessions, and forthright personality and discretion towards the realities of the entertainment business. To me, these are qualities which displayed the many truths of what casting directors and agents really look for during the audition process. It really made for an exciting two days of witnessing just how thorough you truly are, having been a part of the business yourself for 20-plus years.

All of these attributes, and more, were presented to our students in such an exemplary fashion, I'm quite certain that they're just as appreciative as I am. Furthermore, this type of actor's training should allow for each student to take with them many positive teachings and critiques that will surely enhance their professional growth both as an actor, and their own daily life experiences.

Meanwhile, I look forward to a continuous working relationship with "In the Wink of An Eye" Casting for many years to come. It is definitely a platform worthy of providing future aspiring actors, models, and dancers with the type of quality training necessary for their own career success.

To all of the students who participated -- Amanda DeBraux, Monica Verner, Daryl Denner, Dre Davis, Angelique Chapman, Mo Brown, Joanne Tate, Kemylee Brisport, and Shae Anthony ... I wish all of you the very best of success in your future endeavors.

As always, take care & enjoy!

THENETWORKSTUDIOS NYC

I would like to start off by saying thank you to The Network Studios, NYC for inviting me to be a speaker on Sunday, January 25th. In this workshop, I found the usual suspects… passionate, eager, ambitious individuals who are seeking work as an actor… individuals which, like so many, seek without, but need to seek within!

What you all may not realize is that you have inspired me. Through this experience, I have become aware of the need to truly know one’s self. I am learning more about myself every moment of every day. Just when you think you know it all, life jumps in and shows you, you know nothing... These Actors open my eyes to something new and fresh.

The Interview...
Has I start with my routine of asking you all about yourselves. It never ceases to amaze me that such a simple question, leads to such a complicated response.

I know only the best are brought in to conduct such seminars and workshops… and then there’s me. I come from the only place I know which is simply, me. I come from a place of honesty and truth. Not to say that others don’t, but when I look and when I listen (which is a skill often misused), I am given the opportunity to see amazing things in individuals you, yourselves, often cannot see and often do not know. On Sunday, tears were shed and shared… some brought passion, others brought genuine curiosity, but you all brought something special and I was left inspired.

All that we have is all that we need… all that we need is all that we carry. What will get you to your goal is that which you possess. The hurt, the joys, the pain, the laughs… all of our experiences are with us to move us. Where you go with it is on you. Own your tears like you own your clothes. Love your hurt like you love chocolate. Live your life has if there's no tomorrow.

If you can’t BE yourself, how can you BE anybody else?

So with that said… “Preparation is Key!”
My ACT NOW Acting Workshops are designed for YOU… the actor within!

ACTING SEMINAR / AUGUST 18, 2008

YESTERDAY'S SEMINAR WAS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! SO MUCH SO THAT ONE ATTENDEE EMAILED US TO COMMENT ON HER EXPERIENCE:

"Thanks so much for allowing me to attend your seminar as your special guest... It was fabulous. You were so right on with what you tell your students . From the heart is what it's about. Getting people to realize that they have the tools within their reach is the key to getting them to recognize their potential. Your approach is subtle yet right on"!

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO MISSED YESTERDAY'S SEMINAR, THE EVENT WAS HOSTED BY BET'S COLLEGE HILL 2 ALUM NAFIYS BLAKEWOOD. MANY OF THE ATTENDEES WERE SURPRISED TO FIND OUT THAT WE HAD TWO GUESTS SPEAKERS LINED UP FOR THE EVENING. GBENGA AKINNAGBE, "CHRIS" OF HBO'S ACCLAIMED "WIRE" SERIES GAVE GREAT INSIGHT INTO HIS HUSTLE AND THE SACRIFICE NECESSARY TO MAKE IT AS AN ACTOR. LESSON LEARNED: "YOU DON'T WORK , YOU DON'T EAT" !

OUR SECOND GUEST OF THE EVENING WAS NATURI NAUGHTON, CURRENTLY STARRING IN THE BROADWAY PRODUCTION OF HAIRSPRAY AS "LIL INEZ". NATURI, WHOM CAN BE SEEN IN THE CURRENT ISSUE OF VIBE CAN ALSO BE SEEN PORTRAYING LIL KIM IN THE UPCOMING BIOPIC, "NOTORIOUS"; BASED ON THE LIFE OF SLAIN RAPPER NOTORIOUS B.I.G A.K.A BIGGIE SMALLS.

NATURI GAVE ATTENDEES THE OPPORTUNITY TO ASK HER QUESTIONS ABOUT HER PREPARATION FOR HER ROLE AS LIL KIM IN NOTORIOUS. SHE SPOKE ABOUT THE COACHING SHE RECEIVED FROM CASTING DIRECTORS TWINKIE BYRD AND WENDY MCKENZIE . THEY URGED HER TO CHANNEL HER EXPERIENCES WITH HER FORMER GROUP, 3LW TO EVOKE LIL KIM'S FEELINGS OF INADEQUACY DURING HER RELATIONSHIP WITH THE NOTORIOUS BIG.

LESSON LEARNED: ADVERSITY CAN BE A STEPPING STONE

WITH THAT SAID IN THE WINK OF AN EYE ACTING WORKSHOP WAS CREATED TO BETTER PREPARE ACTORS FOR WHAT CASTING DIRECTORS SEEK WHEN CASTING FOR FILM AND TELEVISION PROJECTS.
