and a Special "Thank You"
goes out to my ...
LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!!!!!
(11/09) students.

THE WEEKEND WAS BITTERSWEET FOR ME... THIS IS MY LAST ACTING WORKSHOP FOR THE YEAR 2009. AFTER MY WORKSHOP I HEADED OVER TO BROOKLYN TO ATTEND THE IFNY MONOLOGUE SLAM HOSTED BY MALIK YOBA AND GIVEN BY ATTIKA J. TORRENCE founder of The Independent Film New York (www.IFILMNET.tv)
SPECIAL GUEST JUDGES INCLUDES...
Actor: Micheal K. Williams ( The Wire)
Manager: Ally Roberson ( Roberson Artist Management)
Casting Director: Winsome Sinclair (Precious)
Director; Author & Acting Coach: Tracey Moore (Tracey's Clients includes Eve & Busta Rhymes)
THIS IS WHERE THE SWEET PART COMES IN... Malik Yoba said... do we have any actors in the house?... and out of no where Donald Calliste; Nafessa Williams & Shana Solomon jumps up to the front of the stage. Malik then asks them to do an improv... out of no where, they came up the best story line ever. When I tell you they did such a great job with acting it out, they left a great lasting impressing on everyone in the house... After the event all the Judges and people in attendance knew their names... and wanted to meet them, I was a proud Mama.
Lesson #1
Be Memorable

SUNDAY NOV. 22, 2009
ALTHOUGH I WAS TIRED FROM LAST NIGHTS EVENT, I GOT UP BRIGHT AND EARLY TO ATTEND Miles Maker's (google him) DIRECTING ACTORS GYM WITH SPECIAL GUESS DIRECTOR PETE CHATMON (google him too)

ITS SO IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHAT GOES THROUGH A DIRECTORS MIND WHEN GIVING DIRECTION. HE HAD THE ACTORS ACT OUT EACH SCENE, PETE GAVE ADJUSTMENTS AND COMMENTS, THEN ADDED IMPROV TO EACH SCENE.
NOTE TO ALL ACTING STUDENTS... PLEASE FIND YOUR WAY INTO MILES MAKER'S NEXT EVENT...
Lesson #2
Never Stop Learning !

WITH THANKSGIVING COMING SOON... I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU, TO YOU... MY STUDENTS. THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR JOURNEY WITH ME. I WISH YOU THE BEST OF LUCK AND HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON DURING ONE OF MY CASTING CALLS... WHAT EVER YOU DO FROM THIS MOMENT ON, PROMISE ME ONE THING... YOU'LL NEVER STOP LEARNING.

Acting has been a secret desire of mine, however I knew nothing about it-until now! The Act Now Workshop taught by one of my best friends, casting director and acting coach Wendy McKenzie, teaches basic acting, audition, and marketing techniques. Wendy's no-nonsense and raw honest approach helped me identify my weaknesses and strengths. She did not hold back on me either because I was her friend. "Life Is Simple", "Preparation is Key", "Be Fearless" are just a few examples of some of the things taught during the workshop. One of the many highlights of the workshop featured acting tips from working actors. Artist included Tobias Truvillion (One Life to Live) Shamika Cotton (The Wire) and Tyrone Brown (Beat the World). Wendy provided a chance to apply what we've learned, by allowing us to network with her entertainment connections with invitations, to special performances and showcases. If your interested in learning about acting, networking, and marketing then you should consider taking The Act Now Workshop! Thank Wendy for everything! This was a great experience. I'm looking for to seeing you at future auditons and learning more! I'm so proud of you! May God continue to bless you with the success you so deserve! Love, Renee

Wendy,
Thank you so much, once again! Your classes were so enlightening! This was my first time taking acting classes and I learned so much. I now have a much stronger passion for acting and learning as much as I possibly can about my craft.
Your classes have made me that much more driven. Thank you Wendy!
